SUMMARY:STARTUP BUILDER COHORT 2026
DESCRIPTION:With entrepreneurship increasingly emerging as an attractive career path for young professionals and graduates\, Kanara Entrepreneurs (KE)\, Bengaluru Chapter\, is launching the ‘Startup Builder Cohort 2026’\, a six-month hands-on programme designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs turn their ideas into viable businesses. \nScheduled from October 10\, 2026 to March 2027\, the programme is aimed primarily at first-time founders\, aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage entrepreneurs who are serious about building a venture. The cohort will be limited to 20 participants\, allowing for closer mentoring\, peer interaction and individual attention. \n \nUnlike a conventional classroom-based entrepreneurship course\, Startup Builder is designed as a practical journey of building a startup. Participants will meet every Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm at Konkan Samudhai Bhavan\, Kalyan Nagar\, Bengaluru. Breakfast and lunch will be provided during the Saturday sessions. Participants will also be expected to work on their ventures during the week through customer interviews\, market research\, prototype testing and other assignments. \nThe programme follows a seven-part framework called ‘The Seven-Part Climb’\, taking participants through the various stages of building a startup. \nIt begins with ‘Becoming an Entrepreneur’\, focusing on mindset\, ownership and understanding risk. This is followed by ‘Opportunity Validation’\, where participants learn about market sizing and customer discovery. The third stage\, ‘Building a Better Solution’\, focuses on competition\, value proposition and business models. \nParticipants then move to ‘Building the First Product’\, covering MVP development\, pricing and acquiring the first paying customers. The fifth stage focuses on ‘Finding Product-Market Fit’\, including customer retention\, cohorts and startup economics. The final two stages address ‘Growth and Scaling’\, covering growth engines\, defensibility\, team building\, capital\, systems and governance. \nThe emphasis throughout is on learning by doing. Participants are expected to conduct 5–10 customer interviews each week\, undertake market research\, test prototypes\, study competitors\, experiment with pricing and work on unit economics. The programme philosophy is simple: participants do not graduate merely by completing lessons; they graduate by demonstrating evidence and progress at every stage. \nThe programme is open to individuals aged 21 years and above who have an idea\, concept\, prototype or very early-stage business. A registered company is not required to apply. Early-stage founders whose businesses are less than two years old can also apply. \nHowever\, the programme is not intended for those seeking only funding or networking; applicants are expected to demonstrate a genuine commitment to building a venture. \nSelection will be through a structured four-stage process comprising application review\, independent evaluation\, a founder interview and final cohort selection. Applicants will be assessed on entrepreneurial intent\, clarity of the problem\, founder suitability\, learning mindset\, commitment\, market potential\, values and integrity. \nAt the conclusion of the programme\, participants will get an opportunity to present their validated idea or prototype at a Demo Day before investors\, mentors and the wider startup ecosystem. Promising ventures that are ready for the next stage will also have a pathway to an Advanced Cohort and access to incubator partner networks. \nThrough Startup Builder Cohort 2026\, KE Bengaluru hopes to encourage more young people to move beyond simply discussing business ideas and take the first practical steps towards building sustainable enterprises. \nAs the programme philosophy puts it: “You don’t graduate by finishing lessons. You graduate by proving evidence at every stage.” \nHere is the application form link: https://forms.gle/9VYzyqdYSwzPtbDk8
