KE Dubai successfully hosted an insightful online webinar titled “NRI Taxation Masterclass 2026” on April 25, 2026, bringing together Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) from across the globe to decode the evolving complexities of Indian tax regulations.

The 60-minute power session, led by renowned NRI Tax Specialist CA Arun Peter Vaz, focused on the major implications of the New Tax Bill introduced in 2025 on NRIs and the increasing scrutiny and compliance requirements in the coming years. The webinar highlighted how global data-sharing frameworks and new tax rules are making it more critical than ever for NRIs to stay compliant and informed.

Key Highlights from the Webinar:

  • Rising Tax Scrutiny: With automated financial data exchange across 100+ countries, NRIs are now under sharper regulatory oversight than ever before.
  • Residential Status Impact: Understanding tax residency remains the single most important factor determining tax liability, including the deemed resident status for NRIs.
  • TDS on Property Rental, Sales & Capital Gains: Understanding the TDS and Capital gains for NRIs on Property Sales in India.
  • TDS Misconceptions: TDS is only a withholding—not the final tax liability, a common mistake among NRIs.
  • Compliance Essentials: Filing ITR, tracking income sources, and planning property transactions were highlighted as must-do actions.
  • Real Case Insights: Practical scenarios revealed how small mistakes can lead to penalties and tax notices.

The session also addressed key concerns including rental income taxation, capital gains, NRE/NRO account implications, and transition scenarios for NRIs returning to India.

Speaking during the session, CA Arun Peter Vaz emphasized: “Compliance is not the burden. Ignorance is.”

CA Arun Vaz is a seasoned finance professional with over two decades of experience spanning audit, assurance, financial consulting, and regulatory representation. He is the Co-Founder and Director of Transformatrix Global Pvt. Ltd. and founded Vaz Samel & Associates in 2012. Jain & Associates LLP, a firm with a long-standing legacy working with institutions like CAG, RBI, SEBI, and major national banks.

Widely regarded as a trusted advisor to leading real estate groups in India, he is known for his precision, strategic thinking, and strong ethical foundation. A Certified Fraud Examiner, along with credentials as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and Certified CSR Expert, he brings deep compliance expertise to his work. His contributions have earned him recognition through the REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship and the Karmaveer Chakra Award.

The session was kicked off by Vinisha Menezes with an inspiring introduction to KEL’s mission and guiding principles, delivered to an engaged and enthusiastic audience. Dorothy Fernandes, President of KEL, warmly welcomed the attendees, encouraging them to embrace curiosity and leverage the vast knowledge and expertise within the KEL community to drive both personal and professional growth.

The session was later moderated by Venzil Fernandes alongside the speaker, who addressed most of the participants’ queries during the Q&A session.
