KE BLR Founders’ Fiesta by Robinson D’Souza
— Robinson D’Souza, Founders’ Fiesta
9th May – Ashraya International Hotel, Bengaluru: While Founders’ Fiesta often brings us stories of entrepreneurs, the 29th edition (9th May) offered something equally powerful — a journey of courage, integrity, and public service.
Mr. Robinson D’Souza, who has served the Government of Karnataka in multiple legal capacities, including as a Magistrate, took us through a life shaped not just by ambition, but by values that refused to bend.
He began with his early years — from humble beginnings in Mangalore to growing up in Chikkamagalur, where uncertainty was constant, but resilience ran deeper. Through heartfelt stories, he spoke of his parents’ sacrifices and the quiet strength that held the family together.
As life moved to Bangalore, responsibility took center stage. Alongside his brother, he worked to support and educate his siblings — a phase marked by grit, sacrifice, and determination. Among the many moments he shared, one stood out: a simple ₹100 note from his father — not just money, but a symbol of trust that stayed with him for life.
The evening then shifted into his remarkable journey through the judiciary. With rare candour, Mr. D’Souza spoke about navigating the system, rising quickly through the ranks, and the realities of working in environments shaped by power and pressure.
One message echoed strongly across the room:
“Never bend to power.”
Through real-life cases and experiences, he spoke about choosing integrity over influence — and how that one choice, repeated consistently, builds both reputation and legacy. In his words and actions, honesty wasn’t idealistic — it was non-negotiable.
Adding depth to the evening were his interactions with extraordinary individuals — from Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa to Mother Teresa.
A particularly memorable story was his interaction with A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, who, despite his stature, personally served him coffee and biscuits — a moment that reinforced humility in leadership.
Equally moving was his recollection of supporting Mother Teresa’s mission in Mangalore and receiving personal letters of gratitude — moments that brought alive the human side of leadership and service.
For many, a highlight was his reflection on the early days of Kanara Entrepreneurs — offering a rare glimpse into how the association was built, the people behind it, and the values that continue to shape it.
The session closed with a simple yet powerful reminder:
One compromise can begin a lifetime of compromises.
Stay fearless. Stay grounded. Stay true.
The memento of appreciation was presented by Director – Mentorship, Sunil Attavar, to Mr. Robinson D’Souza, who continues to be an integral part of the KE community and a regular at Founders’ Fiesta.
With every edition, Founders’ Fiesta reinforces one belief — success is not just about what you build, but what you stand for.
And this one? It stayed with us.
We look forward to seeing you at the next one.
